Holly Drive Leadership Academy opened in 1999 for grades K-8. This school has a focus that goes beyond that of the core subjects. Students also engage in the community around them learning about leadership, character development and business principles. Art and music are also a main focus.
Along with the core subjects students can enjoy computer arts, drawing/painting, Spanish, basketball, P.E., academic contests, student council, debate and science/technology.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
At Holly Drive Leadership Academy showed a mixture of results for the standards tests across all grades. For example in grade 6 30% of the students passed the English Language Arts exam with the state average at 59%. For the 3rd grade Math exam 86% passed as compared to 69% for state.
