Higher Learning Academy Review

Higher Learning Academy opened in 2007 for students in grades Kindergarten through 7th. The main focus is on the individual student and his/her strengths. The school love to have parents involved, give their teachers the power of innovation, and have a qualified staff that cares.

The school focuses on core knowledge. What is great is if your child is doing poorly in a specific area they can change the curriculum and strive for better results. At this time, the school does not offer extra curricular activities, sports, or student clubs.

The reviews of Higher Learning Academy were mostly positive by the parents. Most said that the teachers were what made this school great. They focused in on every student and their educational needs. Some parents did not like the teachers and their approach to the learning process. The students expressed they loved going to school each day.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decrease from 676 to 668. The statewide goal is 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The test results for the students at Higher Learning Academy were lower than the state averages for every grade level and subject.

The test scores are an area for improvement at Higher Learning Academy and they are striving each day for higher results. To learn more about the results and where improvement is needed you should talk with administration before enrolling your child.
