Heritage K-8 Charter School Review

Heritage K-8 Charter School opened in 2003 to provide an alternative to traditional schools for students in kindergarten through 8th grades. The school provides a safe and structured learning environment with a challenging standards based curriculum.

Along with core subjects, Heritage K-8 Charter School offers extra curricular activities including painting, theater, dance, chorus, and band. The sports available at the school are soccer, physical education classes, and track. Other programs include science & technology, community service, academic contests, yearbook, and student government. Vocational programs offered include construction and technology.

There are a few mixed opinions when it comes to the administration and staff at the Heritage K-8 Charter School. Some parents expressed that the staff only guide you to visit their website when parents have questions, while others stated the staff were very helpful. Students stated they like the school and teachers. Teachers are very helpful and the school is safe.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decline in academic growth from 900 to 897. The goal statewide is a score of 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams at Heritage K-8 Charter School was all above state averages across all grades and all subjects.

For a standards based school, the school is performing at higher than expected goals. Students are above average in all courses, which is a sign that school is doing an excellent job. To ensure the school is a good fit for your child, you should take a tour before enrolling your child.
