Harvest Ridge Cooperative Charter School Review

Harvest Ridge Cooperative Charter School opened in 2010 for grades 1st through 10th. They are heavily invested with the teacher/parent/student relationship. The focus is to engage students in such a way that learning becomes a lifelong love.

Besides core subjects Harvest Ridge offers students the ability to plant the seeds and watch the success grow right before their eyes…literally. Their garden promotes healthy eating, a love for gardening and a history in the act of gardening itself. Every Friday the students have something going on whether it is a field trip, play days or community exercises.

Harvest Ridge is a great school for always bringing something new to the table and that is not just with the garden club. Parents love that the teachers work hard with the students and also play just as hard on their Fridays away from the school.

The Academic Performance Index showed an increase from 888 to 903. The state standard is 800 which leaves parents impressed and loving these results.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The test results were mixed. Most tests and passing percentages were high. 73% of 6th graders passed Math. The state average was set at 55%. For 4th grade, 71% was the state average and 66% of students passed the Math exam.

Currently the California Exit Exam is not administered at this school.

Harvest Ridge Cooperative Charter School works well with parents and always strives for success. However, it would be a good decision to take a tour to ensure the learning environment is one in which your child will excel.
