Goethe International Charter School Review

Goethe International Charter School opened in 2009 for students in kindergarten through 6th grades. This unique charter school offers a program that fuses English and German for a one of a kind educational experience. They provide a rigorous curriculum to encourage students to become self-motivated and conscious of the world and cultures around them.

Besides core classes this charter school offers a learning experience based upon sailing vessel with The foreign-language immersion model represents the ship itself, The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme represents the main sail and The California State Standards become the landmarks. The passengers are of course the students.

Goethe also has an arts program, immersion of two languages with German and English and a running club.

The students at Goethe International Charter School love the school. Parents are impressed with the quality of materials used and the dedication of the teachers. It was cited as being a challenging school, but worth the effort and hard work.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decline in academic growth from 934 to 892. The statewide goal is 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The CST results showed great improvement. Students in the 5th grade had an 81% pass rate on the Science exam with the state average at 60%. The English Language Arts exam was even better with a passing rate of 100% compared to the state average of 63%.

Goethe provides a great learning experience. With the integration of dual languages, children become aware of their surroundings and more globally prepared. Schedule a tour today and see what Goethe can do for your child’s education.
