Global Youth Charter High School Review

Global Youth Charter High School opened in 2004 for grades 9th through 12th. This charter school provides a unique learning experience with small learning teams that are available throughout their entire educational career at the school. The student body is diverse and that is how the curriculum is as well. It is a rigorous and challenging program with great educational benefits.

Besides the core classes offered Global Youth has a variety of sports programs including soccer, volleyball, basketball and track and field for students to participate in if they choose. They also have youth programs to keep them busy during their 4 years attending the school. Students can participate in leadership and conflict mediation as well. There is even a parent/teacher club. This club gives parents the opportunity to volunteer for 4 hours a month. This way both the parent and teacher are heavily involved in each student’s life.

Parents love the small classrooms that Global Youth offers. It seems that this way every student gets personalized and individualized teaching and that does make a difference. There is also college class work that gets students motivated and ready for life after high school. The learning teams are really, what the parents are raving about because this support system is like no other. Students expressed just how much they like the learning teams as well.

The results of the Academic Performance Index were not available.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The percentage of students passing the exams was not available at the time of this time as well as the California Exit Exams.

Since the exam results were not available, it would be a good idea to talk with the staff at the school to learn more about the curriculum and the results of the exam. Ensuring you choose the best school for your child will ensure their success for the future.
