Gilroy Prep opened in 2011 for Kindergarten through 8th grades. This school focuses on innovative programs that are based on technology. They are a navigator school that steers students in the right direction concerning college and the work place. Gilroy focuses on a demanding curriculum to produce the best results.
This school follows a “Prove and Disprove” method of learning to develop critical thinking skills. They allow 2 extra hours a day for additional learning and involvement in music, art, drama and physical education. Technology is a big part of the curriculum as well where teachers can focus more on small groups.
Parents love that the teachers here focus on the big picture of each student. It was also been stated that the students receive individualized learning that promotes their strengths and abilities. With technology at the forefront, the students are being prepared for what is next in the real world.
The Academic Performance Index showed a score of 978. The statewide goal is 800.
The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The test results were not available at this time as neither the standards test nor the exit exam administered at this school.
Gilroy Prep has a great approach to teaching its students. They work in small teams to ensure individual progress and success. They work closely with parents and would love to sit down and talk with you. A tour is always available should you want more information for both you and your child.
