Gabriella Charter School Review

Gabriella Charter School opened in 2005 for kindergarten through 8th grades. This charter school provides a dance-based curriculum that meets the needs of each student. It is a rigorous program that follows the same principles that dance does including discipline and creativity to give the students self-confidence and critical thinking skills for their education and future.

Here at the Gabriella Charter School the curriculum has been established with the focus on humanities, math and science. Along with the core subjects, the school provides after school programs. Students ranging in age from 4-19 can enjoy dance instruction on the campus of the school. Other after school programs include math club, test prep and programs offered in the summer.

Parents are very pleased with Gabriella Charter School and all that the school has to offer. The effort and dedication of the teachers was mentioned time and time again. Parents go on to say that, their children are happy to go to school, which is something each and every parent can appreciate. Even the lunch menu was praised for accommodating those with special dietary needs. Students expressed they like their teachers and making friends at school.

The Academic Performance Index showed improvement in academic growth from 875 to 894.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The California Standards Test showed improvements in all areas and were above the state average. For example, in 5th grade, 87% of students passed the science exam with a state average of 60% and in 6th grade, 88% passed ELA with an average of 59% for state.

Having your child attend a school that focuses on the principles of dance is new and refreshing. This school does a great job on intertwining the discipline of class work and the fun of dance to give your child a unique way to learn.

It is a great idea to visit any school before enrolling your child and the Gabriella Charter School is no different. Making sure your child is a perfect fit with the school and vice versa is one of the most important decisions that you can make. Take a tour today and chat with the teachers about your child’s education.
