Folsom Cordova Community Charter School Review

Folsom Cordova Community Charter School opened in Folsom for families to have an option besides traditional schools where their children in grades kindergarten through 8th can receive a quality education. The school offers both resources for home schooling as well as classroom studies.

Along with core subjects, Folsom Cordova Community Charter School offers students the opportunity to join extra curricular activities including drawing and computer arts. The only sport offered is yoga. The school does offer other programs, which include science & technology, multimedia, community service, and academic contests.

Parents are very happy with the balance they are receiving between home schooling and other programs offered by the school. Most stated that before beginning to use the resources at the school, they felt their children were not receiving a quality education. Students stated they really enjoy the curriculum, field trips, and all the materials the school provides.

The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 814 to 843. The goal statewide is a score of 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams at Folsom Cordova Community Charter School were mainly above state averages except for 3rd grade math at 56% with the average being 69%, 6h grade English Language Arts at 58% with the average at 59% and math at 47% with the state at 55%, and 8th grade science at 63% with the average at 66%.

The school is providing an excellent blend of home school and classroom learning for families that desire this type of learning environment. To ensure the school is the best for your child, you should take a tour and talk with other parents that are using the programs.
