Excalibur Charter High School Review

Excalibur Charter High School is a charter school that opened in 1999 in Apache Junction. The school provides an alternative to public education for students in 9th through 12th grades offering high quality academics as well as the skills needed to join the workforce. The school prides itself on the technology driven curriculum that enables students to join the workforce in careers that are in high demand.

Along with core subjects, Excalibur Charter High School offers extracurricular activities including computer arts, drama, and film/video production. Sports available at the school include yoga, martial arts, and physical education classes. Students have the opportunity to join clubs and programs as well including Science & technology, community service, student government, and yearbook.

Students and parents alike are pleased with the curriculum and the teachers. Students have expressed that the staff and teachers make it fun to learn where they receive one on one attention when needed. Parents are very happy that their children now want to go to school and are getting better grades after attending this school over public schools they attended in the past.

In the state of Arizona in order to graduate from high school, all students in 10th grade attending public schools or public charter schools are required to pass the AIMS series of tests. These test measure if students have mastered core subjects. Percentages of 10th graders that passed or exceeded the standards set forth in the exams are listed below along with state averages.

In reading, 62% of 10th graders passed or exceeded the exams with the state average at 78%, in science 9% with the state at 42%, in writing 69% with the state at 68%, and in math 15% with the state at 60%. It would be in your best interest with some of the percentages on the low side to speak with teachers and staff to learn more about the low scores in these subjects.
