El Dorado High School Review

El Dorado High School opened in 1998 in Chandler to provide a quality education as well as alternative to public education for students in 9th through 12th grades. The school works with each student to help develops the basic skills needed to be productive in society. The school works mainly with students that have had a hard time with traditional schools and provide them with a more personal curriculum.

The curriculum offers models as well as instructional with independent study, honors track, and accelerated credit learning. The school does offer special education for students with speech impairments, language impairments, and learning disabilities. The schedule is unique in that El Dorado High School offers block scheduling and part time study.

Along with the core curriculum the school offers extracurricular activities including painting, basketball, baseball, football, and cheerleading. Student clubs include student newspaper and yearbook.

El Dorado High School has other programs available including dual enrollment, credit recovery, credit acceleration, certification programs in child care, food handling, and health.

Teachers enjoy working at the school due to the small class size that allows them to work more one on one with each student. For students that maintain their grades only have to attend school 4 days giving them Friday off.

Students and parents are very pleased with the curriculum, small class size, as well as the teachers and staff. Students expressed they received the quality help they needed to ensure they graduated.

In the state of Arizona all students in 10th grade must pass or exceed the AIMS series of tests in order to graduate from high school. Percentages of students at El Dorado High School that passed or exceeded the exam are listed below along with state averages.

In reading, 48% of 10th graders passed or exceeded the exam with the state average at 78%, in science 5% with the state at 42%, in writing 15% with the state at 68%, and in math 19% with the state at 60%.
