Discovery Charter School of Santa Clara opened in 2006 with an average enrollment of 570 students per year in grades kindergarten through 8th grade. The school provides an education that encompasses the whole child, which means they work with each student independently to ensure they learn succeed in providing a quality education for each student. The school offers team teaching, small class size, multi-age classroom, community involvement, and parent participation.

Along with core subjects, Discovery Charter School of Santa Clara offers extra curricular activities, which includes drama, sculpture, drawing, photography, dance, chorus, orchestra, film production, computer arts, and band. Sports available are yoga, tennis, physical education classes, cheerleading, basketball, martial arts, football, soccer, and badminton. Other programs and student clubs offered are science & technology, community service, debate, yearbook, academic contests, and student government.

The majority of parents had nothing but positive remarks about the school, teachers, and administration. Most expressed the school is doing a good job while a few stated the school expects the parents to do the majority of the work in educating their child and being present at all school functions. Students stated they like the school and their teachers.

The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 914 to 915.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams at Discovery Charter School of Santa Clara was mainly above average. Examples of the percentage of students passing the exams include 86% of 4th graders in English Language Arts with the state average at 91% and 100% of 7th graders passed the Algebra I exam with the state average at 86%.
