Diego Hills Charter School Review

Diego Hills Charter School opened in 2009 for at risk students in grades 8th through 12th and between the ages of 14 and 19. The school has small class sizes and allows students to receive an education at home. The school operates year round with class options including morning, afternoon, and night classes as well as at home opportunities. Instead of working on a full day of courses, students can focus on one or two subjects at a time.

At this time, Diego Hills Charter School does not offer any extra curricular activities, sports, or student clubs.

The opinion of the majority of parents was very positive. Many parents expressed the school is providing their children the opportunity to graduate from high school. Some parents expressed that prior to attending Diego Hills Charter School their children were not doing well in traditional school for one reason or another including being bullied. Now, they are getting much better grades and truly learning. Students are very happy with the way the teachers help when needed and do not look down on them when they ask for help.

The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 583 to 630.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams at Diego Hills Charter School was below averages across all grades and all subjects.

The California High School Exit Exam is given to students in 10th grade to ensure they will be ready to graduate from high school. The percentage of students passing the English Language Arts exam was 65% with the state average at 83% and in math 65% passed with the state average at 84%.

The school is doing a very good job providing at risk students with the opportunity to achieve their high school diploma. To ensure the learning environment is a good fit for your student, you should take a tour of the school and even talk to a few teachers.
