Da Vinci Charter Academy Review

Da Vinci Charter Academy opened in 2009 as a charter school providing families with students in 7th through 12th grades with more options than traditional schools. The curriculum is project based which provides students with a more hands on learning environment. The school sponsors several field trips each year to provide students with learning outside the classroom as well.

Along with core subjects the school offers sports students can join if they wish to participate which includes basketball, track and field, wrestling, ski team, snowboard team, lacrosse, golf, softball, soccer, baseball, and cross-country.

Most parents are very happy with the unique learning environment and the curriculum. Most expressed they would like to see a bit more parent involvement but that the teachers and staff are excellent. Students expressed they like the teachers and the school, but would like to see more extra-curricular activities including student clubs.

The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 837 to 864. The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.
The percentage of students passing the exams at Da Vinci Charter Academy was mainly above average. The courses below state average were in a few math and science courses. The California High School Exit Exam had the percentage of 10th graders passing the English Language Arts exam at 94% with the state average at 83% and in math 92% passed with the state average at 84%.

Da Vinci Charter Academy is providing an exceptional education as well as providing the tools and teacher interest that helps students succeed. Before enrolling your child, you should still take a tour to ensure the learning environment is one that will help your child learn.
