Community Collaborative Charter School Review

Community Collaborative Charter School opened in 2005 to provide students with an independent study program as well as home school program with individualized instruction. The school provides a high quality curriculum, support for instructions, and resources throughout the community. The school offers an educational option for students in 9th through 12th grade. The school serves students that are often 5th year seniors, credit deficient, parenting teens, pregnant, homeless, and emancipated.

The school does not offer any extra curricular activities, sports, or student clubs.

Parents expressed they are pleased with middle school and high school curriculum but that the lower grades needs some improvement. Students that are attending the school are very pleased with the curriculum as they can work on their own when they have the time and between work and carrying for their family. Most of the students are very thankful for the opportunity to graduate from high school.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decline in academic growth from 644 to 641. The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The percentage of students passing the exams was mainly below state averages. The grades average and above average were middle school students.

The California High School Exit Exam tests 10th graders mastering skills in English language arts and mathematics. The percentage of students passing the exams was 44% in English Language Arts and 37% in math both below state averages.

The school is providing an exceptional education and opportunity for students that without this school would not graduate from high school.
