College Ready Middle Academy #4 Review

College Ready Middle Academy #4 is part of the Alliance College-Ready Public Schools, which is the largest nonprofit charter organization in Los Angeles. This campus opened in 2009 and serves students in 6th through 8th grades. The college prep curriculum is challenging and offers student’s standards based curriculum that prepares them for entering high school and for going on to college or university. The school serves low-income students and strived to close the gap to ensure that all students can receive a quality education.

College Ready Middle Academy #4 provides small class sizes and personal curriculum plans that meet with the needs of each student on a personal basis. Each plan is determined by the teacher, students, and parents to ensure the learning style will help the child personally reach their goals. The Alliance College-Ready Public Schools student body is comprised of 87% are Latino and 13% are African American with 22% being English-Language Learners.

At this time, College Ready Middle Academy #4 does not offer any extra curricular activities, sports, or student clubs.

Parents stated they are very happy with the progress they are seeing from children once they enrolled them in College Ready Middle Academy #4. Most parents expressed just how much their children were enjoying going to school and telling them all about their day. Students stated they love the teachers and the small class size. Some said they would like to see extra curricular activities.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decline in academic growth from 786 to 777. The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The percentage of students passing the exams was just a small percentage below state averages across all grade levels and all courses.

The Alliance College-Ready Public Schools overall since they opened their first school in 2004 have seen 96% of their seniors graduate with 99% of entering college.

The College Ready Middle Academy #4 is doing an above average job of providing students with the educational tools they need to be prepared for high school and enter college.
