Celerity Nascent Charter School Review

Celerity Nascent Charter School in 2008 for students in kindergarten through 8th grades. The school provides a quality education for students that provide families with an alternative to traditional schools. The school expects high expectations for every student offering encouragement and support from dedicated teachers.

Along with core subjects, Celerity Nascent Charter School offers students extra curricular activities to join such as drawing, computer arts, chorus, band, and dance. Sports offered include physical education classes, basketball, martial arts, and yoga. The school does not offer any student clubs or other programs.

Most parents are truly amazed with the way the staff and teachers work with each child individually to ensure that all students can learn and succeed. Students said they like the school and that they are making good friends. Students expressed the school is a nice place and that they do not have any problems with other students and that teachers are very nice.

The Academic Performance Index showed academic growth from 866 to 892.

The California Standards Tests are given to students to learn if they are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The percentage of students at Celerity Nascent Charter School that passed the exams was above state averages with all grade levels and courses except for 8th grade. Eighth graders were only above average in history with the percentage at 54% and the state average at 52%. Other percentages for 8th graders included science 63% with the state at 66%, English 57% with the state at 59%, and Algebra I 47% with the state at 49%.

The school is doing better from previous years as shown by the Academic Performance Index. The teachers and staff are dedicated to the school, the community, and the students, so overall the school is providing a quality education in a safe learning environment.
