Carden of Tucson Review

Carden of Tucson charter school opened in 1997 with an average enrollment of 136 students in kindergarten through 8th grades. The school offers a curriculum that works with the whole child while focusing on leadership skills. The school works with the three R’s which defined by the school are Reason, Respect, and Responsibility. Along with core subjects, students enjoy chorus, sports like basketball, and physical education classes.

There are a few mixed reviews on the school; however, most are very positive. Teachers along with the principal offer tutoring after school and work with each student as needed to ensure that every student can and will succeed while reaching their goals. The school is kind of matter of fact, which means class time is class time and play time is play time. In order for students to excel, they must learn responsibility and how to follow instructions, which is a very important part of the curriculum. Some parents have displayed a bit of concern regarding creativity, however, most are very pleased with all aspects of the school as well as the caring and nurturing environment that aids in developing the whole child instead of the entire emphasis on academics.

Students at Carden of Tucson participated in the AIMS exam which is used to measure the ability of students attending public schools in the state of Arizona. The percentages of students that passed or exceeded the standards along with percentages of students across the state are listed below.
