Camino Nuevo Charter Academy High School opened in 2004 to provide an alternative to traditional school settings. The school offers a safe and nurturing environment for students to learn at their own pace with teachers that are dedicated and wiling to help students succeed.
As a member of the Camino Nuevo Charter Academy group of schools a variety of programs are offered. Not all the programs may be available on each campus, so you will need to consult the school to ensure they are available. A few of the programs may include the Playworks, Let’s Get Healthy Program, Developmental Bilingual Program, After School Program, Arts Program, Music Program, Computers For Youth, Camino Nuevo Family Clinic, Latino Family Literacy Project, Mental Health Program, SPARK, and Safe School’s Valet Program.
Along with core subjects, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy High School the school offers other activities that students can join. These include outward bound, drama, drumming, chess, LGB, kick boxing, bicycling, leadership, Academic internships, ACE Mentor program, Camino Corps, Art Apprenticeship programs arts and music program, DEEP AB540 Club, Museum of Contemporary, Counseling, students Run LA, after school program, and CIF Athletic teams including soccer and basketball.
Students are thrilled with the curriculum and the teachers at the school. Most students expressed that teachers are very helpful and work with each student independently to ensure they learn and achieve the credits need to graduate. Parents are pleased with the school and all it offers to the students and the community as a whole.
The Academic Performance Index showed a small decline of 7% however, the score of 783 was higher than the state at 779. The percentage of students across all grades were up and down with 59% passing English-Language Arts 59% with the state average at 56%, 17% passing Math with the state average at 59%, 42% passed science with the state average at 54%, and 53% passed history with the state average at 44%.
The California Exit Exam showed 76% of students at Camino Nuevo Charter Academy High School passed the English Language Arts exam with the state average at 59% while 74% passed Math with the state average at 56%.
With the comments of parents and students along with the test scores, the school is doing a job of preparing students to enter college or join the work force upon graduation.
