Bradley Academy of Excellence Review

The Bradley Academy of Excellence opened in 2003 which is a charter school providing a quality education to students in kindergarten through eighth grades. The small classrooms provide a nurturing and caring environment in that all students can excel and enjoy learning.

Along with core subjects, Bradley Academy of Excellence provides extra curricular activities that cater to the whole child instead of only academics. The other activity opportunities include painting, theater, student council, and yearbook. Sports offered include physical education classes, basketball, martial arts, and football. The student body is comprised of 44% black, 37% Hispanic, 18% white and 1% unspecified.

Mixed reviews all over the place when it comes to Bradley Academy of Excellence. Some parents are not happy at all with their decision of enrolling their children in the school. Some state the long bus ride, even though it is free, is around two hours going to school and coming home. Along with this, bullying is a huge problem as well as teachers and staff not having control over their classroom.

Other parents love the school, the staff, and teachers and praise them highly. These parents state communication between teachers and parents is very high with emails sent at least once per week and the ability to check online to make sure their child has all homework information.

By hearing from parents on both sides of the fence, the main issue is bullying and bus schedules more than the curriculum or the teachers themselves. The main disappointment is the way in which administration is not disciplining those that are bullying others.

All students in the state of Arizona are required to take the AIMS exam, which measures their ability to master the core subjects. Percentages of students that passed or exceeded the exam at Bradley Academy of Excellence along with percentages of students across the state are listed below.
