Benton County School of the Arts Review

Benton County School of the Arts opened in Rogers as an alternative charter school in Rogers in 2001. The school offers an arts based curriculum, which allows students to develop their talents and skills. The school on average has an enrollment of around 450 students in kindergarten through 8th grades. The school is one of the oldest charter schools in the state of Arkansas. The curriculum is unique in that it blends academic studies with drama, music, and art.

In order to attend Benton County School of the Arts the school uses a lottery system. The school has many families wanting to enroll their children as they have a proven record of providing an excellent education in a close-knit family style environment.

Parents are very pleased that the school opened in Rogers and gives them an alternative to traditional schools. The major complaint is the lottery system used to take in new students. The curriculum is great and teachers are dedicated and enjoy teaching. Students enjoy attending school and becoming life long learners.

In the state of Arkansas, the Benchmark Exam is used to test students. Students in 3rd through 11th grades are tests in literacy while students in 3rd through 8th grades are tested in math.

The students at Benton County School of the Arts did very with the Benchmark exams with 92% of 3rd graders passing the exam in math, 70% of 4th graders, 71% of 5th graders, 86% of 6th graders, 86% of 7th graders, and 89% of 8th graders, with all being above state average. In Literacy, 77% of 3rd graders passed the exam, 64% of 4th graders, 74% of 5th graders, 82% of 6th graders, 96% of 7th graders, and 100% of 8th graders. The only score below average was 4th graders, which was 64% and was only a few points below average.

With the comments of parents and the good test scores, the school is doing a great job providing students with the educational tools they need to succeed. It would still be a good idea to take a tour of the school before enrolling your child.
