Aveson Global Leadership Academy opened in Altadena in 2007 to give families an alternative to traditional school settings where students are provided with a more personal learning experience. The school serves students in 6th through 12th grades.
The school does not place students in grades by their age but offers multi age classrooms, which helps students excel. The teachers work with the individual student to ensure they are learning and growing in a nurturing learning environment. The personalized learning plans are created individually with the student and the teacher with the entire curriculum being blended with real life skills.
Along with core subjects, Aveson Global Leadership Academy offers extra curricular activities students can join including drawing, dance, computer arts, chorus, drama, photography, and film production. Sports offered at the include school yoga, basketball, volleyball, football, physical education classes, and cheerleading. Student clubs available are academic contests, yearbook, community service, newspaper, multimedia, science & technology, and student government. Vocational programs are also available such as food service and technology.
Parents expressed their gratitude to the teachers and staff at Aveson Global Leadership Academy, which is helping their children succeed. The school is a close-knit community that encourages students to do their best as well as provides each student with the tools needed to reach their goals. The staff are very friendly and kind which is a very nice atmosphere for students to grow and become productive members of society.
The Academic Performance Index showed that Aveson Global Leadership Academy had academic growth from the previous year. The percentage of students that passed the California Standards Tests were above state averages in the lower grades with the upper grades showing a few percentages below average. Even the lower grade levels did not do as well in math showing mainly below average percentages.
The school offers a close-knit environment and one that does work with students on an individual basis. Before enrolling your child, it might be best to learn more about the math curriculum since it seems across the board students were having a difficult time in this area.
