Audeo Charter School opened in 2001 to provide students with a personalized instructional program that includes a huge amount of parent involvement. The charter school provides a challenging curriculum and caring environment that helps every student excel. On average the school has just under 450 students enrolled per year, thus the class sizes are small and more personal.
Along with core subjects, Audeo Charter School offers computer arts as an extra curricular activity. The vocational programs available include health careers and food service.
Parents expressed that the teachers communicate with parents and keep you up to date with your child progress. The school provides a safe and nurturing learning environment and does not tolerate any type of unacceptable behavior including bullying. The major complaint from parents and students alike is the lack of extra curricular activities including proms, dances, or other social interactions. The only extra curricular activity is computer arts, which is done alone as well. Most parents would like to see more interaction between students. A few parents expressed the teacher turnover was high.
The Academic Performance Index showed the school had academic growth over the previous year. The percentage of students that passed the California Standards Tests was below state average in the majority of cases across most courses. However, students in 10th grade were above average with the California High School Exit Exam.
It would be in your best interest to learn more about the curriculum and talk with other parents that have students enrolled in the school. The low-test scores should be questioned as well. In order to make sure the learning environment is the best possible for your child, a tour of the school may help you make your decision.
