Aspire Vanguard College Preparatory Academy is a charter school that opened in 2009 in Empire to provide students in 6th through 10th grades with an alternative to traditional school settings. The school offers individualized lesson plans for students that are at risk of not graduating high school as well as serves low-income families.

Aspire Schools offer students a safe, caring environment with a challenging curriculum that will help prepare them for their future school years. The school encourages students to become life long learners and instills a desire to receive a college education.

The Aspire Vanguard College Preparatory Academy offers a variety of learning plans that are found at other Aspire Schools such as explicit instruction, apprenticeship, inquire, project based instruction, distributed practice, massed practice, and problem solving. The school funds all kinds of services which include special education, family night, ASC meetings, Read 180, text talk, iPass, tutoring, and writing and math professional development for teachers.

Parents expressed their gratitude that the school is providing students in the community with an alternative to tradition schools. Students are doing very well and enjoying going to school. Teachers are caring and listen to students as well as parents with any concerns they may have. The school offers a safe learning environment and does not tolerate any bullying or other inappropriate behavior.

According to the Academic Performance Index, the school showed academic growth from the previous year. The percentage of students that passed the California Standards Tests was above state averages across all grade levels and courses.

The school is doing very well providing students with the educational tools they need to succeed as well as the attention they require to achieve a quality education. Of course, you should take a tour of the school to determine if the environment is the right fit for you family.
