Aspire University Charter School Review

Aspire University Charter School provides an alternative to traditional schools for students in kindergarten through 5th grades. The school opened in 1999 and provides students with individual lesson plans that help him or her learn in the manner that is best for each student separately. Aspire University Charter School is part of the Aspire Public Schools. Aspire Public Schools are among the top performing schools in America serving low-income families. The school has small class size with highly qualified teachers.

All students that attend an Aspire School are given the tools to prepare them for a lifetime of learning while instilling the importance of a college education. The school even goes as far as helping students find grants and other tools to help them enter college or a university upon graduation of high school.

The Aspire University Charter School provides students with the same teaching methods found at all Aspire School which include explicit instruction, apprenticeship, inquire, project based instruction, distributed practice, massed practice, and problem solving. Along with core subjects, the school offers chorus, academic contests, community service, student council, and science & technology.

Parents expressed just how much the school and staff makes students feel more at home with family. Teachers are very caring and devoted to helping each student succeed. The curriculum is challenging but also engaging to keep students interest and wanting to learn more. The only complaint is the lack of sports. A few more extra curricular activities and sports would be nice as explained by students.

According to the California Standards Tests the percentage of students that passed the exams were above average in all grade levels and across all courses, in some cases 20% above state averages.

With the comments of parents and students along with the test results, the school is providing an exceptional education for students and helping them achieve their goals.
