Aspire ERES Academy opened in 2009 in Oakland for students in kindergarten through 8th grades. This charter school works with students to prepare them for the remainder of their school years including college. Aspire ERES Academy is part of the Aspire Public Schools which is among the top performing schools in America. The school provides low-income families with a quality education option.

Each student that attends one of the school in the Aspire network are provided with the skills they need to be able to enter high school with the knowledge needed to succeed. One of the programs that is giving students the tools needed to succeed is the College for Certain education with most students coming from low-income families.

The Aspire ERES Academy uses a variety of teaching methods that include apprenticeship, problem solving, distributed practice, massed practice, inquire, project based instruction, and explicit instruction. The school does not offer any extra curricular activities, sports, or student clubs.

Most parents are very pleased with the academic success of their children. Teachers are very devoted and truly care about each student on a personal level. Students enjoy attending the school and want to go to school. Parents expressed the small class size and caring teachers make the school have a more at home feel. The curriculum is challenging and interesting with many students talking about what they learned in school when they get home.

Even though the California Standards Tests were sporadic with some grades and courses being below average and some above average, the school did show academic growth with the Academic Performance Index.
