Aspire APEX Academy Review

Aspire APEX Academy opened in 2010 in Stockton. The school offers an individualized teaching method to ensure students can excel. The school serves students in kindergarten through 3rd grade to provide students with the skills needed to prepare them for the rest of their education years. Aspire APEX Academy is part of the Aspire Public Schools which is rated among the top performing schools in the US. The school centers on providing low-income families with an education option that will ensure their children have the opportunities for a quality education.

One of the programs that is receiving praise and is one of the main reasons most parents are choosing the Aspire Public Schools is the College for Certain education which has 12,000 students attending their schools, with the student body being 85% Black and Latino with 80% of student coming from low-income families.

The Aspire APEX Academy focuses on core subjects utilizes an array of teaching methods which include inquire, project based instruction, explicit instruction, apprenticeship, distributed practice, massed practice, and problem solving. Along with core subjects, the school offers drawing, dance, and physical education classes.

Parents are happy they have a choice other than traditional school settings. Most parents are very pleased with the way their children are learning and enjoying attending school. The majority of students are doing well and prefer this learning environment than other schools in the area. The only complaint from both parents and students is the lack of extra curricular activities including sports. Teachers are devoted and want to help each student succeed.

Across all grade levels and all courses, the school was below state averages on the California Standards Tests.

The Aspire Apex Academy is doing a decent job of providing students with the skills needed to succeed. However, since the test scores were below average, it would be a good idea to learn more about the curriculum. Talk with a few teachers and other parents to see if the school is what you are looking for so you child can succeed.
