Architecture, Construction & Engineering Charter High School (ACE) Review

Architecture, Construction & Engineering Charter High School opened in 2010 to serve students in 10th and 11th grades with an alternative to traditional schools where they can also explore construction related careers. The school offers a challenging curriculum that blends core subjects along with hands on curriculum that prepares students to enter college, a career, or an apprenticeship. The school also offers a dual enrollment program for students that wish to attend community college classes while working toward obtaining their high school diploma.

Along with core subjects, the school offers as electives digital photography, yearbook, drama, TA/Office Practice, and Writing. Physical educational classes are also available. Core subjects at Architecture, Construction & Engineering Charter High School are different from traditional schools as well, which includes courses like construction math, history of architecture, computer drafting, architectural design, engineering design/robotics, architectural engineering, construction techniques, advanced construction and construction law/management.

Parents are pleased with the unique blend of regular core subjects with the construction ones that helps their children that wish to have a career in construction more options. The students are excited to have the opportunity to learn more in subjects they are interested in, than having to follow the herd to so speak. The school is doing a good job preparing students for employment in the construction industry or preparing them for college in their selected field of study.

The California Standards Tests showed that students were below average in all grades and in core subjects, however, you must remember that the school is working toward preparing students for a construction career as well as improving their curriculum to ensure students are receiving the best possible education.
