Animo Locke HS # 1 also referred to as Animo Charter High No. 1 and Locke 1 College Preparatory Academy opened in 2008 for students in grades 9th through 12th school. This school is part of the Locke Family of High Schools providing a college preparatory curriculum. The school provides a safe and quality education for students so they can focus on their studies and prepare for their college years.

The school offers other activities as well for students besides core subjects. The activities include baseball, basketball, football, cross country, physical education classes, softball, soccer, tennis, ultimate Frisbee, rock climbing, track, volleyball, drama, sculpture, chorus, photography, band, film production, orchestra, computer arts, dance, drawing, debate, science & technology, yearbook, multimedia, newspaper, and student government.

The school is doing a good job providing a close-knit community where students can become closer to their teachers and administration. The school actually feels more like an extensive of the family than a learning facility. Parents are very pleased with the progress their students are making and how much they are now enjoying going to school. Teachers are very dedicated to providing students with the best quality education possible.

The results of the California Standards tests showed that all grades and all courses were below state average. This should not be a bad reflection on the school as it has gone through new transitions that is now creating a great learning environment and is growing both academically and socially. If you have any concerns if the school is right for your child, you should take a tour and talk with a few teachers. Once you take a tour, you will be able to make a decision if the school is offering the best possible education in a setting where your child will learn and succeed.
