Animo Inglewood Charter High School opened in 2002 by Green Dot Public Schools for students in 9th through 12th grades in Inglewood. The school uses a college prep curriculum to ensure students are ready to enter college after graduating high school. The school offers a challenging curriculum and blends technology in with the core subjects.
Along with core subjects the school offers a few extra curricular activities which include credit recovery, tutoring, fashion design, gaming, cheerleading, boxing, weight lifting, photography, guitar, drivers education, Latin dance, and anime.
Parents are very glad that Green Dot opened the school in their community. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to prepare for college. Parents have noticed marked improvement in the desire of their children to reach their goals and to attend school since they were enrolled in Animo Inglewood Charter High School. Students state that teachers are caring and are there when they need any extra help. The small class size is a great option, which allows more one on one instruction, which is certainly better than any traditional school setting.
The results of the California Standards Tests showed that the scores were very mixed with some grades and courses being above average while others are below average. This is very normal in most cases and should not be a concern. However, learning more about the exams and which classes were below average may give you a better idea if the school needs to improve their curriculum in some core subjects.
In order to make an educated decision if this school is right for your child, you should take a tour of the school, learn more about the curriculum, and even talk with a few parents.
