Alianza Charter School Review

Alianza Charter School opened in 1998 to provide students in kindergarten through 8th grade with an alternative to traditional school as well as introduce students to a multicultural setting. Students learn core subjects in both English and Spanish, thus providing them with the opportunity to learn more about another culture. Students will be able to meet the standards set forth by the state of California in both Spanish and English. The student body is 95% Hispanic.

Along with core subjects, the school offers other activities students can join including dance, computer arts, sculpture, drawing, and drama. Sports offered at the school include physical educational classes, cheerleading, soccer, and basketball.

The principal and other staff members are very devoted to the school and are present at the majority of school events. Parents expressed that the school is strict, does not tolerate any type of bullying, and provides a safe secure learning environment. Parents are very involved in the school and are often seen in classrooms and other school functions. Most parents are very pleased with the school and how their children are learning in both English and Spanish. Parents are very happy with the way that teachers spend one on one time with each student and the small class sizes, which help students, learn without distractions.

Even though test scores had students at Alianza Charter School below state average, the Academic Performance Index showed growth in the last few years. This is an indicator that test performances are doing better than previous years.

From the comments of parents, the school is doing a good job of blending cultures and providing students with a dual immersion community. It would be in your best interest to take a tour of the school to ensure the community setting is a good fit for your child before enrolling.
