Ahwatukee Foothills Prep Review

Ahwatukee Foothills Prep opened in 2004 in Phoenix for students in grades in kindergarten through 5th grades. The curriculum offers college preparatory courses that not only teaches core subjects but also works with students to learn respect, encourage them to do their best in a safe and caring learning environment.

Along with providing a high quality educational tools and core subjects that meet or exceed or the standards set by the state of Arizona, Ahwatukee Foothills Prep also offers other programs that help students in several levels of education options. In the arts, students can enjoy such programs as band, computer arts, chorus, dance, ceramics, painting, and drama. The school offers three foreign languages, which includes Japanese, Mandarin, and Spanish. Sports offered at the school include cross-country, basketball, cheerleading, soccer, softball, volleyball, yoga, and track. Other programs that provide incentives for students to excel include academic contests, science & technology, community service, student council, and yearbook.

All students in the state of Arizona going to public schools in grades 3rd through 8th are tested every year using the Arizona’s Instrument to Measure Standards. The test is used to measure how the students are doing in mastering the state standards. The percentages of students at Ahwatukee Foothills Prep that met or exceeded the standards are below including the state percentages. In reading, 87% of 3rd graders met the standards while the state percentage was 76%, and in math, percentage was 85% and the state percentage was 85%. Reading had 4th graders at 65% in reading with state averages at 75%, in science 44% with state averages at 60%, and in math 58% with state percentages at 65%. Reading percentages for 5th graders was 87% with average state percentages at 79%, writing was at 70% with the state showing 55%, and math percentages was 79% and state average at 63%.

The school has been in a transitional process and you will read some bad reviews, however, most parents are very happy with the quality of education their children are receiving as well as the care provided by teachers. Recently, staff members have changed and the new administration is working closely with teachers and parents to ensure the quality of education that is received by all students is above the expected standards.
