Accelerated Achievement Academy Review

Accelerated Achievement Academy is a charter school that opened in 2002 for students in 1st through 12th grades. On average, the school has a total enrollment of 170 students per year.

The unique learning environment is one that is based on performance for students of all ability levels. What this means is that students will be producing more work during the class time than they did in traditional school settings and that the time will be more productive. Students are expected to put forth an effort instead of just attend class. The school provides a safe, nurturing, and caring environment with teachers and staff that are devoted to helping students achieve their goals. The school is academics based and only has a couple of student clubs available, which is yearbook and student council.

Parents had mixed opinions of Accelerated Achievement Academy some stating that their children were not learning any better than in a traditional school setting while others praised the way their children were doing schoolwork two grades above their level. The one thing that all parents mentioned is that the school does expect students to do their work and be productive. Teachers are available and are very willing to help students, however, students must ask for help. Some parents expressed they would like to see sports offered at the school as well as a few extra curricular activities.

By reviewing the results of the California Standards Tests, it may help you decide if Accelerated Achievement Academy is the right fit for your child.

Students in 5th and 6th grades were below state averages in all classes. Sixth graders were below state averages except in math where they were scored above average. Seventh graders were up and down in all classes with some classes being above average, some average, and some below average. 8th graders were below average in all classes. All results that were available for 9th, 10th, and 11th graders were below state averages, most classes did not have results available.

As with any school, it would be best to talk with the teachers and parents that have students attending the school prior to enrolling your child. The most important factor is that the school is providing your child with a learning environment in which they can excel and that the school provides the educational tools necessary to succeed.
