I actually disagree with the fourth point because every single time I challenged an essay grade in college it was improved. Admittedly, it wasn't something I did very often, but if I received a low grade and I know the TA graded it, I would go to the professor and discuss the essay with them and they usually agreed with my points enough to move the grade up. I never went to the professor whining about the grade and arguing for what I deserved, I merely went there to discuss the material, explain the strengths of my points and allow them to consider it. That approach worked well.
