Selecting & Navigating
- Types of Selection:
- We often make selections on our sessions in PT. PT provides two types of selections: Timeline Selection & Edit Selections
- Timeline of Selections:
- With any tool selected, move your pointer over Timebase Ruler or click and drag any desired area on Edit window by selector tool.
- Selecting with Timeline Selection Fields:
- We can select by typing the bars/ beats in the main counter or on transport window.
- Selecting with Timeline Selection In/Out Points:
- With any tool you can make a selection on the main timebase ruler. If you want to extend or make it shorter you can click on clue arrows and grabber tool will become active and you can make a selection.
- Edit Selections:
- When you are working with Audio or MIDI data on PT, you can select clips by grabber tool or make selection by selector tool.
- Selecting with Edit Selection Fields:
- You can use the Edit selection fields in the edit window on main counter. Click on start-end locations to make a selection. Same thing can be done by slash key as well.
- Creating Separate Timeline Selections & Edit Selections:
- The default setting in PT links the Timeline & Edit selections together. You can separate those by clicking on the icon of timeline / edit toggle button. In this way we can play the session and edit completely different areas in the session.
- Using The Tab Key:
- When working in a track, you can use the Tab key to move the cursor to clip boundaries on the track playlist. If enabled then we can use TAB key to go to the next transient Option TAB to the previous.
- Tab To Transient Points:
- This function is very useful to find the initial peak or modulation in an Audio waveform.
