University Preparatory High School Review

University Preparatory High School opened in 2009 to offer students that wish to work hard within a challenging and accelerated academic program. The school prepares students in 9th through 12th grades for attending college while allowing students to take and earn college credits while obtaining their high school diploma.

Along with core subjects, the school offers fine arts, music, dance, soccer, swimming, and other sports.

The majority of parents and students alike praised the school and staff for the great curriculum. Most students are excited to be able to take college classes. Parents love the way the school is more like a college campus than a traditional high school, which completely prepares students for life. Students also stated that all the activities offered are great.

The Academic Performance Index increased 37 points to 842. The statewide goal is 800. Parents and students are proud of this score as well as their API statewide rank of 8 out of 10.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams was mixed. Examples include 26% of 9th graders passed the Algebra I exam with the state average at 25% and 79% of 10th graders passed the biology exam with the state at 43%.

the California High School Exit Exam tests 10th graders mastering skills in English language arts and mathematics. 98% of students passed the English exam with the state average at 83% and in math 93% passed with the state average at 84%.

The school is providing an exceptional education for students. If you do have any concerns, it would be a good idea to talk with other parents and teachers to ensure your child will excel.
