Triumph Academy Review

Triumph Academy opened in 2007 as an alternative to traditional school offering families the opportunity to provide their children with a quality education in a safe and nurturing environment. The school utilizes the same principles seen at the Partnerships to Uplift Communities schools that offers traditional curriculum along with small class sizes, personalized assistance, and extensive exposure to the arts. The school serves students in 6th through 8th grades working with mainly a Hispanic student body.

Along with extra curricular activities, the school offers band, dance, computer arts, drama, and drawing. Sports offered include softball, basketball, physical education classes, ultimate Frisbee, soccer, football, and baseball. Other programs that students can join include student council, community service, academic contests, science & technology, debate, and yearbook.

Students expressed the school and teachers are fantastic in most cases. However, some students said that the school is disorganized and it is very small. Parents overall are happy with the school in the majority of cases, even though a few parents stated that communication is almost nonexistent.

The Academic Performance Index increased 7 points to 829. The statewide goal is 800. Parents are very happy with the API score and know that teachers are doing a great job of providing an exceptional education.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams was mixed. Examples include 70% of 6th graders passed the math exam with the state average at 55%, 55% of 7th graders passed the English exam with the state at 62%, and 93% of 8th graders passed the Algebra I exam with the state average at 49%. Parents are happy with the results in the majority of cases.

The school is providing a quality education in a safe learning environment. If you have any concerns, it would be a good idea to take a tour prior to enrolling your child.
