Topanga Elementary opened in 1993 to serve students in kindergarten through 6th grades. The school works with students on an individual basis to help students achieve their goals while ensuring they master basic skills.

Along with core subjects, the school is proud to offer enrichment programs that include differentiated instruction, individual instruction time, ongoing assessment, arts integrated curriculum, garden project, the opportunity to use technology, instrumental music program, summer intervention program, dance, music, and drama.

Parents overall are very pleased with the learning environment and state that the teachers and staff are wonderful. Most parents love the way that the school is working with students individually, but did express that they are often tested more than they believe are necessary. Field trips are amazing and provide students with real hands on learning. Some parents expressed concerns over a bullying problem in the school. Students stated they like going to school but would like the opportunity to participate in sports.

The Academic Performance Index increased 2 points to 939. The statewide goal is 800. Parents are pleased with this score and the 10 out 10 API statewide rank.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams was above state averages across all grade levels and all subjects.

The school is providing an exception education with all the tools needed for students to be prepared for the remainder of their educational years. If you have any concerns, it would be a good idea to take a tour before enrollment.
