Stockton Collegiate International Elementary Review

Stockton Collegiate International Elementary opened in 2010 to provide students in kindergarten through 5th grades with an International Baccalaureate program that offers a college prep curriculum. The student centered program works with students on a personal level, which ensures that each student will succeed.

Along with core subjects, the school offers sports via different organizations as well as extracurricular activities including music, newspaper, leadership, intramurals, and yearbook.

Most parents expressed they really love the school, the teachers, and staff. Most stated that the teachers are wonderful and work with students personally. The school offers a caring and nurturing environment that is helping students succeed. Students are not as happy with the sports and activities available, but do like their teachers.

The Academic Performance Index showed an increase of 18 points to 802. The statewide goal is 800. Parents are glad to see the increase that pushed them over the state goals.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams was mixed. Examples include 60% of 3rd graders passed the math exam with the state average at 69%, 71% of 4th graders passed the English exam with the state at 67%, and 55% of 5th graders passed the math exam with the state average at 65%. Parents would like to see less fluctuation with students meeting the averages or above.

The school is doing a good job of providing students with the educational tools needed for the remainder of their educational years. It is still a good idea to take a tour of the school before enrolling your child.
