Sonoran Science Academy opened their Broadway charter school campus in 2004 for students in kindergarten through 8th grades. The curriculum is college prep/liberal arts that focus on science, math, and technology. The school realizes that technology is the future and utilizes the latest educational tools to ensure that students are prepared for the ever-changing world. The school offers college level classes, advancement placement, as well as college dual enrollment courses.

Along with core subjects, students that wish to participate in sports, extra curricular activities, and clubs can choose from drama, drawing, chorus, dance, photography, computer arts, band, film production, basketball, football, physical education classes, softball, volleyball, tennis, newspaper, student council, science & technology, multimedia, and yearbook.

Parents are very pleased with the way in which their children are learning and gaining self-confidence. The major drawback for a few parents was the amount of homework that was sent home with kindergarteners; however, once they see the progress they are happy with the homework that has taught their children how to manage their time. The major issue with the school is communication. For parents that cannot be involved, communication is lacking. The teachers are very dedicated and highly qualified, but most parents are not as happy with the staff and administration that seem to be aloof. All parents are excited about the way their children are excelling and doing schoolwork that is beyond their grade level.

When you look at the percentage of students that passed the AIMS series of exams, you will see that students here were above average or average in most grades and most courses. The only course that was below average in a couple of grades was math, but the percentage was not far from being average.

The school offers a great education and works with students on a personal level to ensure they succeed. Of course, you should still visit the school prior to enrolling your child to make sure it is the best choice for your child.
