Redwood Academy of Ukiah Review

Redwood Academy of Ukiah opened in 2000 to provide the community and students with a college prep driven education. The school serves students in 7th through 12th grades. The school prepares students for college with classroom instruction, activities that are focused on the students and technology for an overall experience.

Along with core subjects, the school offers other extracurricular activities for its students. Students expressed that the school lacks when it comes to electives, extra curricular activities, and sports. Most students stated they would like other activities so they could enjoy participating in team sports.

Parents are thrilled with the curriculum and the teachers as both are focused on the student and their individual strengths. The teachers are very attentive and willing to work with the parents, as well. The school has a strict discipline program and dress code, but it is also very safe. The students love the teachers too and are excited to go to school. However, some stated they are not happy with the dress code.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decrease of 9 points from the previous year to a score of 867. The statewide goal is 800. Parents are pleased with the number as it passes the state goal, but they want an increase for next year’s numbers.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams was a mixture of results both above and below the state averages across the 6th, 7th and 8th grade exams.

California uses the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) to test high school students’ skills in English language arts and mathematics. The students at Redwood Academy of Ukiah surpassed the state averages on both exams with results of 90+ percentages.

The school is providing students with an exceptional education, dedicated teachers and amazing test scores. To learn if the school is a good fit for your child, talk with teachers and staff before enrolling your child.
