Peabody Charter School Review

Peabody Charter School opened in 1993 to serve students in Kindergarten through 6th grades. The school prepares students for their educational future with a dual language based curriculum with both courses taught in both English and Spanish. The focus of the academics is on science and technology, with a strong emphasis on the arts.

Along with core subjects, the school offers sports for teacher student competitions and other extracurricular activities. This includes a variety of art inspired classes including fine art, ceramics, choir, instrumental music, and drama and computer arts. Both parents and students are happy with the classes however, they would like more choices when it comes to activities.

Parents are thrilled with the curriculum offered at Peabody Charter School. However, teachers feel the curriculum can be quite repetitive at times. Parents also raved about the cafeteria that uses organic products and even has its own chef. Students love their teachers, but want more sports added to the extracurricular activities.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decrease of 9 points from the previous year to a score of 873. The statewide goal is 800. Parents are pleased with the number and the dedication of the teachers to raise the score.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams was above the state averages for all grade levels and all subjects.

Peabody Charter School is providing students with an exceptional education with a staff that pushes for success for every student. It would still be a good idea to ensure the school is the right fit for your family by taking a tour.
