Pacific Technology School – Santa Ana Review

Pacific Technology School opened their Santa Ana campus in 2009 as a charter school to provide students in 6th through 9th grades with an option over traditional school settings with a focus on math, science and technology. The school prepares students for their future and success.

Along with core subjects, the school offers very few sports and very few extracurricular activities. The activities available do focus on the performing arts with technology and science driven courses as well. This is a downside expressed by parents and students. Students would like to see more activities where they can enjoy various clubs such as student government and sports like soccer and football.

The opinion of the school is very high with parents proud of the achievements of their children since attending Pacific Technology School. Parents expressed that they love the online tracking of their child’s progress as well as how nice and friendly the teachers can be. Students expressed they like the school but as mentioned above they would like to see more extra curricula activities and sports.

The Academic Performance Index increased by 61 points from the previous year to a score of 838. The statewide goal is 800. Parents are pleased with the increase and score.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams showed results that some exceeded the state averages and some fell below those numbers, but not enough to cause any worries.

The California High School Exit Exam tests 10th graders mastering skills in English language arts and mathematics. Students at Pacific Technology School-Santa Ana did fairly well with the exit exam with 85% passing the English exam with the state average at 86% and 73% in math with the state at 84%.

Overall, the school is providing students with a quality education and preparing them for their academic future. It would be in your best interest to schedule a tour with the teachers an ask questions about the learning environment to ensure it is a good fit for your family.
