Pacific Technology School – Orangevale Review

Pacific Technology School opened their Orangevale campus in 2009 as a charter school to provide students in 6th through 12th grades with an option over traditional school settings with a focus on math, science and technology.

Along with core subjects, the school offers extracurricular activities for its students. That includes art competitions, AMSP Club, science fairs, soccer club and 100K Challenge. Other activities include basketball, club, yearbook club, Lego robotics, book club, golf club and other math ad technology driven courses. Both parents and students like the variety.

The opinion of the school is very high with parents proud of the achievements of their children and the dedication and devotion of the awesome teachers and staff. The parents love being volunteers and helping out the school. Other highlights include small classes and great after school programs. The students like going to school and love all of the extracurricular activities.

The Academic Performance Index increased by 29 points from the previous year to a score of 858. The statewide goal is 800. Parents are pleased with the increase as well as the overall score.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The percentage of students passing the exams showed low and high scores as compared to the state averages.

The California High School Exit Exam tests 10th graders mastering skills in English language arts and mathematics. Results of the exams were not available at the time of this writing.

Overall, the school is providing students with an exceptional education and teachers that take the time to teach. It would be in your best interest to schedule a tour, meet the teachers and ask questions regarding the exams to learn if the school is meeting state standards.
