C. Doby Middle school is a charter school under the administration of Omega Northern Campus, which opened in 1999 for students in 5th through 8th grades. The school provides a nurturing learning environment where students can excel and achieve their goals with caring teachers.

The goals of the Omega McDowell Campus are to provide students with a learning environment in which they feel secure and at home in order to achieve their goals and be prepared for high school. The school strives to provide a safe learning environment where they can reach their potential and succeed in life while attaining their own personal goals. The school does not mention any extracurricular activities, sports, or student clubs.

Parents are excited with the school, which is helping their children learn better with most students receiving grades than they did at public schools. Students enjoy the nurturing environment and are becoming students that want to learn instead of wanting to give up. The teachers are caring and work with students on a more individualized setting, which increases the knowledge students retain.

Students at this campus participated in the AIMS series of exams those measures if students are mastering core subjects. Percentage of 5th, 7th and 8th graders that passed the exams were below state averages in reading, writing, and math. Sixth graders were below average in reading and math but above average in writing.

It would be best to learn more about the curriculum and to discuss the lower scores with administration and teachers before enrolling your children. The educational tools the school is using may not be the best for your child, as other students are not passing the state required exams.
