Mountain Home School Charter Review

Mountain Home School Charter opened in 1994 for Kindergarten through 8th grades. The school’s focus is on a home-based independent study program. Teachers, parents, and students work together to develop annual goals set by the school and state of California. Student progress is evaluated every one to four weeks and shared with parents. Teachers also offer classes, workshops, and other activities on a weekly basis.

Along with core subjects students can participate in poetry, sewing yearbook, art, mosaic, writing classes, spelling bees, robotics, social study trips and even a learn to ski program. This is a wonderful addition as expressed by most parents that have been interested in home school but were concerned about social acidities.

With the unique list of extra curricula activities it is easy to see why students love Mountain Home School Charter. The rated the school very high and said they love their teachers and classes.

For parents they love everything about the school. They have found great support in the teachers; love the principal and the excitement that keeps the students wanting to go to school each day. Even the field trips were something that the parents mentioned that they liked very much.

The Academic Performance Index showed an increase in academic growth from 792 to 834. Parents are thrilled with this result as the state average is set at 800, which shows that students are doing better than many other traditional schools.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

The test results at Mountain Home School Charter showed that 45% of 3d graders passed the Math exam with the state at 69%. On the 7th grade Math exam 52% of students passed matching the state average percentage.

If a high API score is important to you then Mountain Home School Charter may just be the school for you and your family. The teachers are very dedicated and the school is perfect for those that want to help with their student’s education. To learn more, you should take a tour of the school.
