Marquez Charter School Review

Marquez Charter School opened in 1997 to provide families with an alternative to traditional schools to serve students in kindergarten through 5th grades. The school uses a hands on and thematic instructional scheme that provides students with a more creative style of learning.

Along with core subjects, Marquez Charter School offers a variety of extra curricular activities including band, drama, computer arts, painting, orchestra, sculpture, film production, photography, chorus, and dance. Sports available include tennis, soccer, physical education classes, martial arts, gymnastics, basketball, and badminton. Other programs offered include science & technology, yearbook, student council, academic contests, and community service.

There was nothing but positive comments from parents. Parents are very pleased with the staff, principal and teachers that work with students on an individual basis and respect each student. Students really enjoy attending school and all the great activities the school offers.

The Academic Performance Index showed a slight decline in academic growth from 935 to 928. The statewide goal is 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades. The percentage of students passing the exams was all above average in all grade levels and all courses. The majority of the percentages were in the 90% range.

The school is providing an exceptional education where students are treated as individuals. To ensure the learning environment is the perfect fit for your family you should take a tour before enrolling your child.
