Los Angeles International Charter High School Review

Los Angeles International Charter High School opened in 2005 for grades 9th through 12th. The college prep curriculum is student centered; project based and includes a community-based program to help each student become accomplished in school as well as in the community. The school is best known for achievement and safety.

Along with core subjects, the school offers art programs, college prep, Spanish, baseball, basketball, volleyball, softball, and other school events.

Only positive reviews have been said about Los Angeles International Charter High School. The parents love that it is very safe environment and the teachers are dedicated with involving the students in the community. Students like their teachers but would like to see more extra curricular activities such as chorus or band.

The Academic Performance Index showed an academic growth increase from 703 to 743. The statewide goal is 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

Some of the test results for Los Angeles International Charter High School were higher than the state average. For example the 10th grade English exam 56% of students passed with the state at 50%. Other test results were lower than the state average.

For the California High School Exit Exam the 10th grade class was tested in math and English. They passed the state on the English exam, but not the Math exam.

The school is providing a fair education with students that enjoy attending school. With the safe environment and dedicated teachers, students are more apt at learning better than in traditional schools. It would be a good idea to take a tour of the school to ensure the learning environment is a good fit for your family.
