Leonardo da Vinci Health Sciences Review

Leonardo da Vinci Health Sciences opened in 2009 for students in grades Kindergarten through 6th. The school focuses on a heath science education. The foundation of the school is built upon the principles of innovation, freedom, choice, and accountability.

Along with core subjects, the school offers extra curricular activities, sports, and student clubs including drawing/painting, Spanish, basketball, soccer, track, physical education classes, yoga, student council/government, community service, yearbook, science and technology.

Parent stated they were thrilled that they found the school. The programs are well organized, the teachers are amazing, parents are very involved and the kids are learning something new every day. Students expressed they would like to see a few more activities.

The Academic Performance Index showed a decrease in academic growth from 818 to 761. The goal for California schools is a score of 800.

The California Standards Tests is used to learn if students are mastering core subjects. The various tests are given to 2nd through 11th grades in English, grades 2nd through 7th are given tests in math, and science tests are administered to students in grades 5th, 8th, and 10th, while history tests are given to students in 8th and 11th grades.

Mixed test results are what the students at Leonardo da Vinci Health Sciences showed. 50% of 3rd graders passed the English Language Arts exam against the 48% state average. On the 5th grade Science exam, 41% of students passed the exam. The state average was 60%.

The school is doing an excellent job providing dedicated teachers and a quality education. Of course, it would be a good idea to take a tour to ensure the learning environment is one in which your child will excel.
