Leading Edge Academy – East Mesa Campus Review

The Leading Edge Academy opened their East Mesa Campus in 2007 and on average have 64 students enrolled in grades kindergarten through 6th.

The school offers an old-fashioned look at education that goes back to the back to the basics while encouraging individualism and character traits to all students. The school also encourages parent involvement as much as possible.

Parents expressed the school offers a great environment, all the educational tools their children need to learn, and have caring teachers. What impressed parents most is the small town feel at the school. One parent did state that if you want to know how your child is doing in class or have any issues or concerns regarding the school, you must talk with the teacher or the principal. The playground needs more room to accommodate the students, which is on the list of improvements. The small classroom size is amazing so students get the attention they need to ensure they are actually learning and not becoming bored or left behind.

To learn if the school is making the grade when compared to other schools in the state, the state of Arizona requires that students in public and public charter school participate in the AIMS series of tests. Students at the East Mesa Campus did every well with the percentage of 3rd graders passing the exams were above average in reading, writing, and math. 4th graders did just as well with 100% passing the reading and all other courses being above average. 5th graders were above average in all courses while 6th graders were just below the average in math.

By the test results and the positive reviews of parents, the school seems to be doing what is needed for students to learn, grow, and be prepared for higher learning while enjoying their educational years.
